What is social media marketing and can it attract new business for my salon?
Have you spent a fortune and months of your time on creating a new website only to find that you have not got a single call or email from it in several months? This is not uncommon for many salons and spas in Ireland. Websites are all about the content, you need to have interesting and relevant info. There is no point in getting new photos taken and spending money on the website if its not visable in the search engines. There are many ways to get the ball rolling and this whole area is called SEO (search engine optimisation) This involves changing your website to suit search engines and applying key words into your text that people and clients are searching for. There are many ways to raise the profile of your site and attract new customers but it is vital to get the basics right from the begining. Every page of you site must contain the exact words that the public are searching for and all text must be tailored to suite Google also.
Social Media Marketing (SMM ) is the next big thing. Everyone uses FaceBook, YouTube and Google to socialise and for entertainment purposes. Use all the tools available online to get your message accross to the right people. Why spend thousands of euro on adverts in newspapers and magazines for one evening in the spotlight when you can get massive and instant response to your promotions online for free. Any body making the effort in social media is attracting customers and new business daily. Set up Face Book and a You Tube channel straight away and start uploading your logo,images and special offers. Spend 20 mins a day on social media and your business will start to benefit within weeks.
